Alexis 'Lex' Murphy
This is a quick job (so no real shading) of Alexis 'Lex' Murphy from the Novel 'Jurassic Park' by Michael Crichton. I'm not Japanese or American, so forgive any mistakes I've made on the baseball side (Like the Darryl Strawberry Special glove not quite being right or something).

This is more my take on the character because Michael Crichton isn't a writer who puts too much detail in things which are completely unimportant, so we don't have full descriptions of what she was wearing on that weekend in 1989. With what's stated (like her glove, Ball, New York Mets cap) and that she is 7-8 years old, very keen baseball player, quite active and outgoing, favours her father and quite impulsive, I've decided to give her a broken/missing tooth, the plaster on the nose (quite often cute). Her hair is blonde, I decided a more dirty blonde, has her her under her cap, so I decided to give her a bit of long hair but it's a pony tail which is going through her cap. For the outfit, like I said, nothing was stated in the novel about what she wore, so going with the baseball theme and being an active 8 year old in 1989, I kinda based it on an old Bananarama picture ^_^; though not fully. Blue vest like but not a baseball one, giving her arms free (there is abit where her arms are check for wounds with no comment about clothing on them), slightly but not very baggy, and jean/shorts which were common for active girls at the time.

Don't know if I'll do any more but I felt like doing this quickly and spend a tiny bit more time then I wanted to but really enjoyed it. I have an almost complete collection of Michael Crichton Novels (In fact, all of the ones he had published in his lifetime under his own name, and some of the ones using other names). This is NOT based on them films.. sigh, there hasn't been many good films of Michael Crichton's work.. some good films he did himself which weren't based on his novels (Westworld, Looker, Runaway) but not really many based on his films (The andromeda strain from 1971 being one of the few good ones). The first Jurassic park film was okay but did a few really odd things.. the Characters of Lex and Tim were.. well, did they really HAVE a character in the film? they swapped a number of roles and make them soo dull and generic that they didn't really have to be in the book.. they made John Hammond into a nice guy, the made Don Gennaro into a ... well.. no clue.. he was kinda one of the 'heroes' of the novel, in the film they gave him Ed Regis negetive traits of running scared from the car leaving the kids, removed most of his lawyer side (though he was still a lawyer, in the Novel he was a much nicer guy, even if he was too willing to help Hammond make lots of money), but didn't get Regis more heroic action which lead to his death. Ed Regis ran from the T-rex escape, but while unhappy with himself for doing it (picturing himself as more cool under preasure) he finally went back to try to make sure the kids are safe, only for the younger Rex (they have the Adult, and a Juvenile one) to toy around with him and them rip him apart, while Grant and the kids watched... Regis himself was completely removed. Muldoon was killed off despite (like Gennaro) being one of the survivor's, they also made him less the drunk and more the idiot (in the film, Muldoon died by being a total idiot and against the character they had set him up as being... Ah, there is so much more I can go on with.. but really, the film is okay as a very weak translation, but there is 'enough' of it from the novel that it IS a translation... the sequel is a different matter.. that's crap.. it LOSELY follows the sequel novel (with bits from the first novel thrown in for some reason) for the first half but then does weird stupid stuff with Dinosaur hunters on the island and a T-rex in New York which just miss the whole point of the novel completely.. Which is a shame because it was the only sequel that Crichton ever wrote, and it was partly because of the film that he did.

anyway.. this is getting too big for something on this image..
